Essential oils are concentrated, plant-derived extracts that capture the natural aroma and essence of various botanical sources. They're obtained through steam distillation, cold pressing, or other extraction methods, resulting in highly concentrated liquids that contain the plant's characteristic fragrance and beneficial compounds.
The most common method. Use a diffuser, add drops to a warm bath, or simply inhale from the bottle. Aromatherapy affects the limbic system — the brain's emotional center — providing mood and wellness benefits.
Always dilute with a carrier oil (coconut, jojoba, or sweet almond) before applying to skin. A safe ratio is 2-3 drops of essential oil per teaspoon of carrier oil. Common areas: wrists, temples, soles of feet, and back of neck.
Many essential oils have natural cleaning, deodorizing, and pest-repelling properties. Add them to homemade cleaning sprays, laundry, or use in reed diffusers for continuous fragrance.
